Le Sénégal poursuit la feuille de route élaborée pour devenir la plaque tournante du transport aérien et du tourisme en Afrique de l’Ouest. Une ambition pour laquelle l’exécutif enchaine les investissements.
Pour 2023, le ministère des Transports aériens du Sénégal a l’intention d’engager et de poursuivre plusieurs chantiers qui s’articulent entre autres autour de la modernisation et la sécurisation des infrastructures aéroportuaires, du renforcement des compétences en ressources humaines et du redressement de la compagnie aérienne nationale.
Pour le volet infrastructures, ces projets concernent l’aéroport international Blaise Diagne de Dakar et plusieurs aéroports et aérodromes régionaux. Les investissements à l’AIBD portent entre autres sur l’installation de la vidéosurveillance pour améliorer la sécurité et limiter les vols de bagages, la poursuite des travaux d’extension des aérogares qui permettra de porter la capacité d’accueil à 6 millions de passagers annuels contre 3 millions actuellement.
Pour les plateformes régionales, il est prévu la mise en service des aéroports de Saint-Louis, Kolda, Matam, Ziguinchor et Linguère, ainsi que démarrage des travaux dans les aéroports de Tambacounda, Kédougou et la 2ème phase de la rénovation de celui de Cap Skirring. Un budget de 200 milliards FCFA a été consacré à ces projets, selon le ministre Doudou Ka.
2023 verra aussi la poursuite des processus de lancement d’une académie de formation aux métiers de l’aviation civile. Un plan de redressement du transporteur national, Air Sénégal, figure aussi parmi les différents programmes retenus.
L’industrie aéroportuaire constitue l’un des secteurs clés du programme stratégique de développement du pays, dénommé Plan Sénégal émergent (PSE).
Pour le volet transport aérien, l’exécutif vise à faire du pays un hub aérien et touristique à l’horizon 2035, en développant des infrastructures aéroportuaires, en construisant un centre de maintenance et réparation aéronautique, en consolidant les activités et l’expansion de Air Sénégal, en formant de la ressource humaine (pilotes, personnel navigant, personnel au sol, etc.) localement.
