Le Président Macky a procédé à la pose de la première pierre du port de Ndayane. S’étendant sur une superficie de 1200 ha le projet Ndayane s’articule en trois phases pour un investissement massif avoisinant les 3000 milliards de frs Cfa. Sans doute, le plus grand projet jamais réalisé dans l’histoire du Sénégal et qui dans ses trois phases pourrait offrir entre 100 et 250 000 emplois dans le long terme.
C’est au courant de décembre 2020, que « l’accord pour la construction et l’exploitation de cette infrastructure majeure a été signé entre l’état du Sénégal et DP World, en présence du président de la république, Macky Sall et du Président directeur général de DP World, Sultan Ahmet Bin Sulayem » a précisé le Directeur exécutif du Port de Ndayane, El Hadji Meissa Mbaye.
D’ailleurs il a souligné que « du côté des autorités sénégalaises, l’objectif est de doter notre pays d’une plateforme portuaire et logistique permettant de faire face aux nouvelles exigences du transport maritime, à l’image du port de Jebel All ou de TANGER MED ».
« Le futur port de Ndayane comprendra un terminal à conteneur sur 300 ha, un chenal maritime de km, et la construction d’un quai de 840 m d’une profondeur de 18 m dimensionné pour accueillir des post panamax et des navires de 366 m de long » a expliqué M Mbaye.
Toutefois il soutient que « la deuxième phase, qui mobilisera 290 millions dollars, verra la construction d’un deuxième quai de 410 m et le dragage supplémentaire du chenal marin.
Sa mise en service permettra de traiter des navires de 400m de long. Aussi, de nouvelles liaisons routières et ferroviaires relieront le port de Dakar au réseau de transport régional ».
Le futur port multifonctions de Ndayane est situé sur la Petite côte, à 35 km par la mer et à 70 km par la route au sud de Dakar et va s’étendre sur une superficie de 600 ha.
Il permettra entre autre de décongestionner significativement et progressivement le port autonome de Dakar qui capte actuellement 95% des échanges commerciaux du Sénégal, mais aussi 80% des hydrocarbures et 65% des autres trafics du Mali.
