Le Port Autonome d’Abidjan (PAA), l’une des principales portes d’entrée des marchandises en Afrique de l’Ouest, se dote d’un Deuxième Terminal A Conteneurs pour le grand bien des opérateurs économiques de la sous-région.
Prévu pour être opérationnel en Novembre prochain, cette infrastructure dont les travaux avancent à grand pas a été financé par le port autonome d’Abidjan et d’autres partenaires regroupé en consortium tels que le Bolloré Africa Logistics, Bouygues et APM Terminals.
Bâti sur une superficie de 35,5 hectares, équipés de 6 portiques et 36 tracteurs électriques, le TC2 coûte 400 millions d’euros. Lors de la présentation du nouveau Terminal à la presse Alliali Yankalbé, responsable financière de Côte d’Ivoire Terminal souligne : «Le terminal à conteneurs numéro deux (TC2) est un outil productif moderne, à la pointe des manutentions portuaires destiné à être un vrai hub sous-régional».
Avec pour ambition d’accueillir les plus grands navires du monde, le TC2 va permettre au PAA de doubler sa capacité actuelle après les 28,3 millions de tonnes traités l’année dernière soit une hausse de 11,7 % par rapport à 2020. Quand on sait que le trafic des pays de l’hinterland (Burkina Faso, Mali et Niger) passant par le port autonome d’Abidjan a augmenté de 23% l’année dernière, l’annonce de l’opérationnalisation prochaine de ce nouveau terminal à conteneur ne peut qu’être une bonne nouvelle chez les opérateurs économiques de ces pays.
La Côte d’Ivoire en tant que grand exportateur de produits agricoles tels que le cacao, la banane, l’hévéa et la noix de Cajou, pourrait connaître une hausse continuelle de ses exportations après une croissance moyenne de 12% observée chaque année depuis 2012.
