Le port autonome de Kribi qui constitue le premier port en eaux profondes du Cameroun, est devenu depuis 2020 le 2e pourvoyeur de recettes douanières du Cameroun après seulement deux années d’activité.
Entre 2018 et 2021, la totalité des recettes collectées par le secteur des douanes du Sud II, qui couvre le port en eau profonde de Kribi, s’est hissée à 300 milliards FCFA.
Selon les chiffres révélés le 28 mars 2022 dans la cité balnéaire de Kribi, durant une réunion bilan de l’année 2021, ces performances ont ainsi été accrues par 10 sur une période de 4 ans.
Concrètement, elles sont passées de 16 milliards FCFA collectés en 2018 (mise en service du port en mars, NDLR) à 163 milliards FCFA en 2021 (chiffre consolidé après les 150 milliards FCFA initialement annoncés, NDLR).
De ce fait, le secteur des douanes du Sud II est le 2e pourvoyeur de recettes douanières du pays, derrière le Littoral I, qui couvre le port de Douala, capitale économique du pays.
Le secteur des douanes du Sud II a plus que dépassé ses performances, qui sont passées de 163 milliards FCFA en 2021 alors qu’elles n’étaient estimées qu’à 74 milliards FCFA en 2020.
Cette performance se justifie par le doublement du trafic conteneurisé au port en eau profonde de Kribi en 2021, dû à la reprise des activités économiques, après les conséquences de la pandémie du Covid-19 en 2020.
Selon le Port autonome de Kribi (PAK), dans le détail l’entreprise publique en charge de la gestion de cette plateforme portuaire de Kribi, 81 771 conteneurs EVP ont été traités en 2021, en croissance de 114% en glissement annuel.
