290 usines d’assemblage et de production de moteurs automobiles existent en Europe dont 185 sont situés au sein de l’Union européenne (UE27).
135 usines parmi elles produisent des voitures particulières, 37 fabriquent des véhicules utilitaires légers, 54 fabriquent des poids lourds, 58 fabriquent des bus et 71 fabriquent des moteurs.
L’Allemagne détient le plus grand nombre d’usines avec 43 sites dont 3 produisent des voitures, 3 des camions et un nombre record d’usines de moteurs (13).
La France arrive en seconde position avec 31 usines dont 12 pour les voitures, 5 pour les utilitaires et poids lourds, 5 pour les bus et 7 pour les moteurs. L’Italie dispose de 22 usines dont 3 de camions et 10 de voitures particulières.
Et enfin l’Espagne comptabilise autant d’usines que la Pologne avec 16 usines au total. Globalement l’Europe compte 54 sites de productions d’utilitaires et de poids lourds dont 29 en UE et dont 58 produisant des bus et des cars.
L’insuffisance de semi-conducteurs impacte particulièrement les usines de productions automobile et poids lourds. Toyota, par exemple, a procédé à la réduction de sa production mondiale de 40% par rapport aux prévisions. Dans son usine française d’Onnaing (Nord), la reprise de la production a subi un retard qui a duré du 23 août au 6 septembre.
