Après l’obtention d’un premier financement d’amorçage d’environ 3 millions $ en 2021, l’entreprise technologique Jetstream ambitionne de poursuivre son expansion africaine, grâce à de nouveaux capitaux mobilisés.
La start-up ghanéenne Jetstream Africa, spécialisée dans le transport de marchandises et la gestion numérique des chaines d’approvisionnement, a obtenu un financement de 13 millions $ en fonds propres et en dettes auprès d’une cohorte d’investisseurs. Alors que la firme de private equity Cauris et le français Proparco ont fourni le financement par emprunt, d’autres investisseurs nouveaux et anciens ont apporté les fonds en capital.
« Ce tour de financement soutient l’expansion de Jetstream Africa vers de nouveaux marchés qui tirent parti des politiques commerciales, permettant un commerce intercontinental plus riche et qui soutient le développement économique du continent », a réagi Tokunboh Ishmael, cofondateur et partenaire principal d’Alitheia IDF, l’un des investisseurs ayant participé à cette levée de fonds.
Bien avant cette mobilisation de fonds, Jetstream Africa avait obtenu un premier financement de 3 millions $ sous forme d’amorçage en 2021. Avec ces 13 millions $ levés, la jeune pousse technologique co-fondée en 2018 par Miishe Addy et Solomon Torgbor totalise plus de 16 millions $ de fonds obtenus depuis sa création il y a cinq ans.
Jetstream, qui est présente dans une dizaine de pays sur le continent africain, prévoit d’utiliser les capitaux levés pour financer son expansion dans de nouveaux territoires en Afrique de l’Ouest, mais aussi pour développer sa plateforme technologique. Sur le continent, plusieurs start-up exercent dans le secteur de la logistique et du transport transfrontalier.
Cependant, de nombreuses inefficacités liées, entre autres, au mauvais état des infrastructures routières et à la pléthore de parties prenantes dans la chaine de livraison d’un bout à un autre plombent ce secteur en pleine expansion.
