Cet accord, qui devrait être conclu au quatrième trimestre de l’année, verra la société russe Lukoil payer 300 millions de dollars, avec un potentiel supplément de 100 millions de dollars lorsque la production sera entamée. L’explorateur pétrolier écossais a l’intention de reverser au moins 250 millions de dollars à ses actionnaires par le biais d’un dividende spécial.
Cette décision consolide le bilan de l’entreprise et lui donne la flexibilité nécessaire pour investir et booster ses activités selon Cairn. Elle diminue aussi la concentration du risque de développement, le risque de financement et la nécessité de dépenses d’investissement importantes sur quatre ans.
