Le trafic total de Rotterdam a chuté de 1,5 % au premier trimestre, après un début d’année « exceptionnel »… jusqu’au conflit avec l’Ukraine enclenché le 24 février. Jusqu’alors, la Russie enregistrait par exemple pour 8 % du trafic conteneurisé.
Les Echos rapporte que « les compagnies maritimes ont, pour la plupart, refusé les conteneurs venant ou destinés à la Russie ». Seuls les produits énergétiques passent encore (gaz naturel, pétrole), mais aussi des produits pharmaceutiques, quelques produits agricoles.
Le directeur général du port de Rotterdam, Allard Castelein, interviewé par L’Antenne, a prévu « un impact sur le trafic pour le reste de l’année ».
A Anvers, qui vient officiellement de fusionner avec Zeebruges, la Russie était le 5e pays, avec 8,5 millions de tonnes de marchandises à l’importation et 3,16 millions à l’expédition (avec près de 400.000 conteneurs par an). La direction du port flamand a prévu une perte de 3 à 5 millions de tonnes de marchandises durant l’année.
