Saipem has benefited from the support of Bourbon Mobility for the construction of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on BP's Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field offshore Mauritania and Senegal, with the chartering of two vessels, the Sirocco FSIV (Fast Support Intervention Vessel) and the Surfer 2609.
The multipurpose vessel Bourbon Sirocco allows the management of crew changes but also the delivery of regular supplies.
It features a large deck space, a capacity of 200 tonnes and 60 passenger seats, while being fast and of an ideal size to evolve according to local sea conditions. The vessel makes three refuelling stops per week between Dakar and the Hub (120 nautical miles from Dakar) as part of its mission.2
Two to three sailings per week are provided by the Surfer 2609, a 26-metre personnel transport vessel with a 50-seat passenger cabin, which reinforces the initial plan based solely on the Bourbon Sirocco.
Initiated in 2021, the project will last several more months. Rhodri Williams, project manager at Saipem said: “The flexibility and adaptability demonstrated by the Bourbon Mobility teams, and in particular the crews of the two vessels, are essential to the success of this contract.”
“It is a source of pride for our company to support Saipem on this key project in the Tortue Ahmeyim field,” also declared François Leslé, CEO of Bourbon Mobility.
Continuing his remarks, he added: "We do everything we can on a daily basis to deliver operational excellence with the greatest safety standards, thanks to competent crews and vessels adapted to the needs of our customers."
