The continuous rise in fuel prices has transport professionals in a state of dismay. Moreover, an official letter was sent to the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, calling on him to intervene to save the sector, which is suffering the consequences of these increases.
As a reminder, the collective is made up of the National Union of Road Transport Professionals affiliated to the CDT, the National Union of the Goods Transport Sector affiliated to the UNTM, the National Union of Truck Drivers affiliated to the UGTM and the national union office of the Union of Owners and Drivers of Trucks in Morocco affiliated to the UMT.
The latter have sounded the alarm by highlighting the difficulties that the sector has been experiencing for several months and which have led to the bankruptcy of several operators.
The Secretary General of the National Union of Road Transport Professionals, Mounir Benazzouz, assured that operators in the sector no longer have the means to cope with the increase in fuel prices.
He made this known in a statement given to "Assahraa Al Maghribia". "This increase threatens the sustainability of companies operating in the transport sector," he explained. To make itself heard better, the collective does not hesitate to threaten to go on strike.
In fact, in his statement to "Assahraa Al Maghribia", a media outlet of the Le Matin Group, Mr. Benazzouz explained that the unions did not rule out organizing strikes and protest movements, given the government's silence.
Furthermore, the union leader stressed that the increase in prices increases social tensions within the sector, but also among the ranks of citizens who are also affected by the increase in prices.
It should nevertheless be recalled that the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics held a meeting with members of this union collective last Monday.
This exchange meeting was devoted to several questions relating to the problems of the sector. At the end of the talks, the ministerial official had promised to send the administration's opinion on the various questions raised during this meeting.
