Le Directeur Général des Grands Trains du Sénégal a pris part à la 19e assemblée générale de l’UIC- Région Afrique au siège de l’organisation à Paris, sous la Présidence de son Directeur général M. François DAVENNE. Une opportunité d’échanger sur la problématique du développement ferroviaire dans le continent africain qui est au cœur des stratégies de l’État du Sénégal.
Lors de son allocution, le Directeur Général M. Mame Samba Ndiaye a notamment abordé la question liée à l’évolution significative notée dans le développement du transport ferroviaire au Sénégal surtout avec l’avènement du TER.
Il reste convaincu que l’année 2023 va impulser une nouvelle dynamique ferroviaire en Afrique et plus particulièrement au Sénégal avec la relance de plusieurs axes ferroviaires à l’intérieur du pays. Rappelons que l’Union internationale des chemins de fer est une association internationale représentant au niveau mondial les entreprises ayant une activité dans le domaine du chemin de fer.
À noter également que cette assemblée générale se tient en prélude de la onzième édition du Congrès Mondial UIC de la Grande Vitesse Ferroviaire qui doit se tenir au Maroc du 7 au 10 mars 2023 plus précisément au Palais des Congrès de Marrakech, sous l’égide de l’UIC et de l’ONCF.
Cette édition du congrès UIC Highspeed qui va accueillir environ 1500 participants sera la première à se tenir en Afrique, mais pas la première dans l’espace Moyen-Orient et Afrique du Nord, après une édition 2018 à Ankara, en Turquie.
Avec pour thème « La Grande Vitesse Ferroviaire : la bonne vitesse pour notre planète », ce congrès « met l’accent sur la contribution du chemin de fer à la résolution des problèmes climatiques et à son rôle dans l’aménagement du territoire.
