This new platform is part of APM Terminals' investment plan, which announced in 2020 that it would be injecting a further 115 million USD to modernize the terminal.

In Nigeria, West Africa Container Terminal, operated by APM Terminals, inaugurated a new logistics facility dedicated to the consolidation and deconsolidation of containerized freight at the port of Onne.

This infrastructure will be used to manage the preparatory phase of shipments, streamlining import and export processes and reducing time and costs for customers.

"This investment provides a comprehensive range of logistics solutions to empower Nigerian businesses and further improve efficiency and access to the international market. The facility will serve to minimize wasted time, increase exports of non-petroleum products and contribute directly or indirectly to job creation," said WACT Commercial Director Ismaila Badjie.

The new platform could play a key role in implementing the Nigerian government's policy of increasing export volumes, particularly of non-hydrocarbon goods. The aim is to diversify the national economy and reduce dependence on oil production.
