The express operator strengthens its air capacity to deliver 4.2 million parcels in December.

With an average 25% increase in deliveries over the Christmas period compared with the rest of the year, DHL Express France is boosting its transport resources by adding 2 extra daily flights in France in December, bringing the total number to 36.

The express delivery company expects to deliver 4.2 million parcels between now and the festive season, with a peak of 250,000 parcels expected on Monday December 18. According to DHL, this increase in delivery volumes, traditional each year, is exacerbated by the growth in online purchases by the French, 78% of whom plan to favor this mode in 2023, according to a Fevad study.

Greener deliveries

This year, DHL Express is focusing on reducing its carbon footprint, in particular by optimizing last-mile routes and favoring deliveries to its network of 11,500 pick-up points, as well as collaborative delivery systems using soft means of transport such as cycling or walking.

"Our partnerships with Relais Colis and startups/SMEs in the sector, such as Tousfacteurs, Pickme and Urb-it, have the dual advantage of facilitating parcel delivery and reducing the carbon footprint," says Philippe Prétat, CEO of DHL Express France.
