This investment plan has been announced at a time when AGL is starting to operate the port of Lobito and is preparing to roll out its management plan, which includes more regular MSC services to boost traffic. Hence the need to increase operational capacity.

Africa Global Logistics, concessionaire of the multipurpose terminal at the port of Lobito, will invest 200 million euros in state-of-the-art equipment and technologies, announced Philippe Zabonne, Chairman of the Group's Board of Directors. The plan will be implemented over 20 years, the concession period stipulated in the contract.

The investment is aimed at improving the operational efficiency of this hub, whose operation was transferred this week to AGL, which promises to increase traffic over the next few years.

"Nous envisageons, avec l'aide de MSC, d'ouvrir des services directs depuis la Chine vers le port de Lobito. The strategy of AGL is to reduce as much as possible goods handling time".

The Group's investment program also includes work to upgrade infrastructure, including a 1,199-meter berth. The port of Lobito is set to play a strategic role in the global energy transition in the next few years, with its status as the first Atlantic gateway to the Copperbelt region between Zambia and the DRC.

The area is home to the world's largest deposits of critical minerals, notably copper and cobalt.
