Copenhagen, Denmark - With the aim of enhancing connectivity and meeting customers' integrated logistics needs, A.P. Moller - Maersk (Maersk) is strengthening its growing freight network between mainland China, Southeast Asia, Europe and the USA by increasing the frequency of scheduled flights and introducing additional aircraft.

The introduction of an additional aircraft and a substantial increase in rotations will further expand our ability to serve our customers with scheduled flights and controlled capacity, while ensuring the visibility, reliability and resilience of their supply chains. At the same time, we are further strengthening our position as a truly customer-focused partner in the global airfreight market. Michel Pozas Lucic

On the transpacific corridor linking Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, China (HGH), weekly rotations will double from three to six, while weekly rotations between Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, South Carolina (GSP), Incheon International Airport, Korea (ICN) and Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, China (SHE) will increase from two to three.

In addition, air services between Denmark's Billund Airport (BLL) and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH) will be increased from three to five weekly rotations. At the same time, the route will introduce a newly converted Boeing 767 freighter, scheduled to enter service directly.

The new tail is operated by Maersk Air Cargo, Maersk's in-house cargo airline, and is the fifth of six Boeing 767 freighters initially ordered, a pipeline of newly built and converted cargo aircraft.

By strengthening its customer-supported air corridors, Maersk should close a connectivity gap between the world's three largest markets for maritime customers, North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, with new solutions for time-sensitive, high-value freight.

Maersk has launched several initiatives to strengthen its airfreight services. The company recently opened a new airfreight gateway facility in Chicago to add more supply chain integration opportunities for customers using Chicago O'Hare International and Rockford International.

Three months ago, Maersk celebrated the inaugural flight of the logistics company's new air freight service with weekly scheduled flights between Denmark and China operated by Maersk Air Cargo.

Prior to this, Maersk also launched a new airfreight service with regular flights between South Carolina, Korea and China, operated by Miami-based cargo airline Amerijet International.
