L’armateur CMA CGM vient d’allouer un service de train-bloc dénommé Duisburg Ramp, connectant Fos-sur-Mer et Marseille à la ville allemande de Duisbourg où les trains s’arrêtent de la route de la Soie en provenance de Chine.
En effet CMA CGM a proposé une liaison ferrée vers Duisbourg, un trajet qui prend un minimum deux jours en comptant les intermittences. Au départ de Fos, le train, tracté par Europorte, va convoyer 96 conteneurs EVP par semaine avec un arrêt à Lyon.
Dans un contexte où le gouvernement français souhaite nettement rendre une impulsion à l’axe Rhône-Saône et à la progression du fret ferroviaire.
Ce service direct sur Duisbourg pourra bénéficier de jonctions avec les trois services maritimes depuis et vers la Méditerranée orientale et l’Afrique du Nord (TMX1, TMX2 & Euronaf). Toutefois il y a la possibilité de relier également l’Asie ((MEX & MEX2).
En 2001, CMA CGM avait déjà risqué l’aventure ferroviaire, notamment avec la création de Rail Link Europe devenue avec le regroupement des activités fluviales, Greenmodal en 2012. Pour autant, cette compagnie, déficitaire, avait été monnayée au Groupe Charles André en 2017.
Ensuite, l’opérateur ferroviaire privé espagnol Continental Rail a été rachetée par CMA CGM l’année dernière. Durant cette même période, la compagnie maritime s’est diversifiée dans le fret aérien.
