UPS has embarked on the acquisition of MNX Global Logistics in the United States, a global player in emergency logistics and healthcare products.

UPS, the international package delivery company, has signed an agreement to acquire MNX Global Logistics (MNX), a US specialist in urgent and sensitive deliveries with expertise in healthcare.

This large-scale service provider serves 190 countries and territories, and counts multinationals in the biopharmaceutical, life sciences, high-tech and medical device sectors among its customers.

MNX's temperature-controlled logistics capabilities will help UPS Healthcare and its clinical trial logistics subsidiary Marken to meet the growing demand for services in the healthcare sector. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year, subject to customary regulatory approval.

"By joining UPS, we will be able to leverage the MNX team's expertise in global and urgent logistics within UPS's extensive network, enabling us to provide our customers with the best possible service," enthuses John Labrie, CEO of MNX.

UPS takes a coveted position in the healthcare market

The proposed acquisition of MNX illustrates the continuity of UPS's strategy to expand internationally in the healthcare and urgent delivery markets.

"With MNX, we will reinforce this reliability and speed on a global scale, especially for our UPS Healthcare customers," explains Kate Gutmann, CEO and President of UPS Supply Chain Solutions, Healthcare and International. We continue to invest in services that bring unique value to our customers and create additional growth opportunities for UPS."

In Europe, UPS is experiencing very strong growth in the healthcare sector. Through its UPS Healthcare division, the American courier group is investing heavily to offer temperature-controlled delivery services for pharmaceutical and medicinal products.

With this in mind, last September the group acquired Transport Chabat Santé, a service provider specializing in healthcare logistics and operating in the South of France.
