The Tanger Med port organised an information and exchange day with exporters from the Souss-Massa region in Agadir on Friday evening.

This event provided an opportunity to present the services offered by this port complex and to strengthen the partnership with the various stakeholders, including exporters, shipowners, carriers and forwarding agents, as well as economic operators from the Souss-Massa region, which has major assets in terms of agri-food exports.

Hassan Abkari, Managing Director of Tanger Med Port Authority (TMPA), pointed out that Tanger Med has become a major national logistics hub, noting that this import-export hub alone handles more than 55% of Morocco's exports.

In the Souss-Massa region, this port plays a key role in facilitating citrus fruit and early fruit export operations, he stressed, adding that this communication meeting is intended as a forum for exchanging and sharing the latest news, services and solutions offered by the port of Tangiers for the benefit of exporters.

Hassan Aderdour, President of the Moroccan Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producer-Exporters (APEFEL), highlighted the major contribution made by the port of Tanger Med to promoting Moroccan exports in general, and those of the agricultural sector in the Souss-Massa region in particular.

For his part, Amer Zghino, Chairman of the Moroccan Intercontinental Road Transport Association (AMTRI), said that this communication meeting was an opportunity to review the association's points of view and also to learn about the latest developments at the Tangier Med port.

Souss-Massa is the leading exporter of citrus fruit and early vegetables, accounting for over 85% of exports of early vegetables and 65% of citrus fruit. It is one of the main export hubs for fruit and vegetables from the port of Tangier Med.

A global logistics hub, Tanger Med connects Morocco to more than 180 ports and 70 countries, offering handling capacity for 9 million containers, 700,000 TIR trucks and 1 million vehicles.

Tanger Med plays a key role in facilitating Moroccan agri-food exports, notably through a dedicated export platform that facilitates port and logistics operations for public and private players.
