Menzies Aviation-Siginon Aviation, a strategic partnership providing cargo handling services in Kenya, has announced that it has achieved IATA CEIV Pharma accreditation for its recently expanded facility in Nairobi, Kenya. This is the seventh Menzies Aviation site to receive this prestigious certification, and the first in the Middle East, Africa and Asia (MEAA).

The three-year accreditation is awarded to companies that demonstrate the high standards set by the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma).

It underlines Menzies Aviation-Siginon Aviation's best-in-class approach to handling high-value, time-sensitive, temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products.

NBO joins Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL), London Heathrow (LHR), Budapest (BUD) and Amsterdam (AMS) airports, now all IATA CEIV Pharma accredited.

The accreditation follows a major investment in cargo facilities at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). The 21,000 m² cargo facility has been significantly expanded from 15,000 m².

This includes an increase in cold room space from 90 to 250 positions for aircraft pallets, as well as new docking stations for refrigerated trucks, increasing Menzies' capacity to transport medical and pharmaceutical products.

A new courtyard area has also been completed to improve traffic management, while security cameras and additional lighting have been installed to enhance security.
