On the sidelines of the 8th edition of the Africa CEO Forum which is being held in Abidjan on June 13 and 14, 2022, the Managing Director of Bolloré Transport & Logistics Côte d'Ivoire, Joël Hounsinou declared that the sale of their activities in Africa was an opportunity for Bolloré Africa Logistics in an interview he gave to Abidjan.net.
Asked about the commitment of the Bolloré Transport & Logistics Côte d'Ivoire group to this edition of the Africa CEO Forum which is taking place in person in Abidjan after a two-year hiatus, the meaning of this participation as well as their specific expectations, he replied that "the Bolloré group is a major player in logistics and operates the first integrated logistics network in Africa.
The CEO Forum being a platform for exchanges bringing together thousands of business and institutional leaders, it offers us the opportunity to share with these leaders the different development issues facing African states.
"This is an opportunity for us to see together to what extent we can provide outlines of solutions, in order to contribute to the development of this beautiful continent," he explained.
In his opinion, this forum also represents an opportunity to share their vision of the development of Africa, but also to present their expertise and their investments.
Asked about the issue of "sovereignty, green growth and industrial transformation: in particular the new routes to African prosperity", he believes that "it is a topical issue because the crises we are experiencing, health crisis, geopolitics, demonstrate that Africa, on the basis of its human and material resources, must be able to take charge of itself".
As a logistician, "we intervene on several links in the product supply chain, helping States to secure the flow of goods, to make these products available under the best economic conditions. It is therefore important that operators like us can share our ideas.
Because it is this mixing of possible solutions that will allow our States to achieve the sovereignty to which they aspire," declared Joel Hounsinou.
Last March, Bolloré had concluded an agreement with MSC for the sale of its activities in Africa. For his part, Mr. Hounsinou emphasizes that "this sale operation must be seen as a good opportunity for the activities of Bolloré Africa logistics in several ways.
"Above all, the MSC group intends to keep Bolloré Africa Logistics as an autonomous entity. Management, both in France and in the organizations within the various subsidiaries, will be maintained and jobs preserved," he explained.
He adds that "the MSC group, which is the world's leading shipping company, has great ambitions for Africa, and aims to consolidate its positions in Africa through this operation". So it is natural according to him "that MSC is part of this investment dynamic, which has always been the driving force behind the development of Bolloré Africa Logistics".
