Air France and Afrijet announced today that they have signed a commercial cooperation agreement (known as an "interline" agreement) enabling passengers to combine trips on both airlines on a single Air France ticket.

Through this agreement, scheduled for implementation at the end of March 2024, the two airlines aim to develop air traffic to and from Libreville airport, which is set to become a hub in Central Africa. The aim is to increase Gabon's regional and international connectivity, and facilitate the experience of customers of both airlines.

Marketing supported by Air France worldwide will also give Gabon and Afrijet's regional network high international visibility.

Under this agreement, customers of both companies will enjoy the following benefits:

  • The possibility of booking the entire itinerary on a single Air France ticket, combining flights operated by Air France and Afrijet. Bookings can be made up to 1 year before departure, to take advantage of the best fares.
  • Check-in for passengers and their hold baggage on the entire route, from the departure airport to the final destination. In the case of same-day connections, customers do not have to collect their baggage at the transit point, but at their final destination.
  • A simple, fast passenger transit circuit in Libreville, facilitating connections to/from Port-Gentil (Air France and Afrijet flights will be operated from Libreville airport's main terminal, where the passenger transit circuit will be carried out).
  • Air France or Afrijet will pay for customer accommodation in the event of a missed connection in Libreville due to a flight delay.
  1. Zoran Jelkic, Executive Vice President Long-haul Air France - KLM, emphasizes that "this is an important regional agreement for Air France. It will enable us to connect new Gabonese and regional destinations not served by Air France, such as Port-Gentil, Franceville, Bata or Sao Tomé, to our global network, as well as strengthening our offer on regional destinations where we are already present. This agreement will also enable us to offer our customers a better travel experience, with the possibility of checking in their baggage from the point of departure to the final destination, and benefiting from simpler, smoother transit at Libreville airport".
  2. Marc Gaffajoli, Managing Director of Afrijet Business Service, comments: "We firmly believe in partnerships for the development of interconnection in Africa, and are delighted to see this agreement take shape in line with this approach. This long-awaited agreement with Air France will enable us to enhance our regional network, which will soon cover the entire Gulf of Guinea. Above all, it represents an opportunity to offer our joint customers an end-to-end service, to IATA safety standards, with a flight schedule in line with their continental and regional mobility needs.
