Un typhon avait touché, il y a quelques jours, le chantier naval du constructeur chinois COSCO suscitant des craintes quant à l’intégrité de l’unité flottante de production, de stockage et de déchargement du projet Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA).
Engagée sur le projet gazier Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) commun au Sénégal et à la Mauritanie, Kosmos Energy a indiqué, mardi 27 septembre, l’arrivée à quai de l’unité flottante de production, de stockage et de déchargement (FPSO) Tortue.
À noter que l’installation, en construction depuis 2019, avait dérivé de 200 m, après qu’un typhon impacté le chantier naval du constructeur chinois COSCO Shipping, responsable de l’ouvrage. Cette épisode avait soulevé des craintes quant à l’équilibre du bâtiment et son impact global sur la mise en service de GTA prévue pour le troisième trimestre de 2023.
Les vérifications entreprises jusqu’ici n’ont pas révélé de dégradation ou dysfonctionnement importants selon Kosmos. « L’examen des différents dispositifs opérationnels du FPSO va se poursuivre » a indiqué la société.
Elle n’a pas donné d’information concernant les conséquences potentielles de l’incident sur la date de livraison de l’infrastructure, annoncée pour fin 2022, et le lancement du projet.
Les premières productions de gaz naturel et de gaz naturel liquéfié (GNL) devraient intervenir au cours de la seconde moitié de l’année prochaine selon les estimations des parties prenantes si le calendrier ne change pas.
