La société portuaire Hutchison Ports et la filiale suisse de MSC, Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), investissent dans la construction d’un nouveau terminal à conteneurs dans le port de Rotterdam.
Le méga-projet, d’une capacité de 6 à 7 millions d’EVP par an, s’étirera le long d’un quai de 2,6 km de long en eaux profondes, capable d’accueillir simultanément 5 gros porte-conteneurs.
“Nous nous réjouissons de développer conjointement avec TIL un nouveau terminal hautement automatisé, à haut niveau de productivité et de durabilité, qui nous permet d’étendre notre présence dans la région“, souligne Leo Ruijs, le président de Hutchison Ports.
Des travaux en trois phases
La société des ports de Rotterdam se chargera de l’assainissement des quais. “Le nouveau terminal nous permettra de conforter considérablement notre position de plus gros port à conteneurs d’Europe“, se félicite de son côté Allard Castelein, le président des ports de Rotterdam.
Les travaux doivent s’étaler sur trois phases, dont la première sera achevée en 2027. Les deux sociétés n’ont communiqué aucun détail sur le montant de leurs investissements. L’an passé, 15,3 millions d’EVP ont été transbordés dans le plus grand port d’Europe.
