A la clé : un volume annuel de 2 millions de tonnes. “Nous devons accélérer rapidement sur la disponibilité des futurs carburants verts”, a estimé Soren Skou, Pdg, du groupe A.P. Moller – Maersk, dans un communiqué de presse.
Un rapprochement entre les deux pays
Dans ce protocole deux régions espagnoles sont ciblées pour la production, l’Andalousie et de Galice, et le projet devrait générer jusqu’à 85 000 emplois.
“Ce projet s’inscrit parfaitement dans la stratégie espagnole de réindustrialisation et dans les objectifs de décarbonation fixés par l’Union européenne. Il renforcera également les liens économiques, politiques et commerciaux avec le Danemark”, a souligné Pedro Sánchez, président du gouvernement espagnol.
Si la disponibilité des carburants verts en quantités suffisantes et à des niveaux de prix compétitifs reste le principal défi pour la décarbonation du transport maritime, les besoins de Maersk se chiffrent à 6 millions de tonnes de méthanol vert par an pour réduire les émissions de sa flotte d’ici 2030. Pour y parvenir, l’armateur a notamment prévu de mettre en service 19 navires alimentés au méthanol vert entre 2023 et 2025.
