L’autorité portuaire saoudienne (Mawani) et Medlog, la branche logistique de Mediterranean Shipping Co. ont signé un accord pour construire le premier parc logistique intégré et une zone de réexportation au port King Abdulaziz à Dammam, a rapporté l’agence de presse saoudienne.
L’accord, d’une valeur de plus de 100 millions de SR (27 millions de dollars), contribuera à la réalisation des objectifs de Mawani, à savoir porter à 30 le nombre de centres logistiques nationaux de réexportation et faire passer l’indice de performance logistique du Royaume à 4,01 d’ici 2030.
Le projet s’étendra sur 100 000 mètres carrés et aura la capacité de traiter 300 000 conteneurs par an, ce qui permettra de rationaliser le transport dans tout le pays.
La SPA a déclaré que sa situation à proximité de la cité industrielle de Jubail et d’autres grands centres de l’est de l’Arabie saoudite conférerait au port un avantage concurrentiel, en améliorant ses opérations logistiques.
L’accord a été signé en présence du ministre saoudien des transports, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, de son adjoint, le Dr Rumaih Al-Rumaih, du président de Mawani, Omar bin Talal Hariri, et du directeur général de Meldog, Hisham Al-Ansari.
Au cours des deux dernières années, Mawani, le principal développeur du secteur du transport maritime du Royaume, a conclu des accords stratégiques avec des partenaires locaux et internationaux pour établir six parcs logistiques intégrés avec plus de 2 milliards de SR d’investissements, créant au moins 6 000 opportunités d’emplois directs et indirects dans la première phase.
