Deux mémorandums d’entente sur le gazoduc Nigeria-Maroc ont été signés, samedi 15 octobre 2022, à Nouakchott, respectivement entre le Maroc, le Nigeria et la Mauritanie d’une part, et le Maroc, le Nigeria et le Sénégal d’autre part.
Le premier mémorandum a été signé par l’Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) représenté par son Directeur Général, Amina Benkhadra, la National Nigerian Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) représentée par son Group CEO Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari et la Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH) représentée par son Directeur Général, Tourad Abdel Baghi, selon un communiqué conjoint des signataires.
Le deuxième mémorandum a été signé par l’ONHYM représenté par Amina Benkhadra, la NNPC représentée par Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari et la Holding Société des Pétroles du Sénégal (PETROSEN Holding) représentée par son Directeur Général Adama Diallo, précise le communiqué conjoint.
Ces mémorandums d’entente confirment l’engagement des parties dans le cadre de ce projet stratégique qui, une fois achevé, fournira du gaz à l’ensemble des pays de l’Afrique de l’Ouest et permettra également une nouvelle voie d’exportation alternative vers l’Europe, souligne ce communiqué.
Ce gazoduc longera la côte ouest-africaine du Nigeria au Maroc, en passant, entre autres, par le Sénégal et la Mauritanie, où il sera connecté au Gazoduc Maghreb Europe et de là au réseau gazier européen, détaille le communiqué.
Cette infrastructure participera à l’amélioration des conditions de vie des populations, l’intégration des économies de la sous-région et l’atténuation de la désertification, grâce à un approvisionnement en gaz durable et fiable respectant les nouveaux engagements du continent en ce qui concerne la protection de l’environnement, indique le communiqué.
Le document précise que le projet permettra aussi de donner à l’Afrique une nouvelle dimension économique, politique et stratégique.
