Du nouveau concernant le projet de gazoduc Nigeria-Maroc. Le PDG de la Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mele Kyari, a annoncé, ce lundi 10 octobre dans une interview à Bloomberg, que la décision finale d’investissement sera prise d’ici 2023.
« Nous prendrons une décision d’investissement définitive l’année prochaine (…) Les discussions autour du financement sont en cours », a-t-il souligné, sans pour autant dévoiler le nom des institutions prêtes à soutenir le financement du projet.
Selon le patron de la compagnie pétrolière nationale nigériane, ce projet d’envergure coûtera entre 20 et 25 milliards de dollars et sera réalisé en plusieurs phases. La première durera près de trois ans.
Cette annonce intervient trois semaines après la signature, à Rabat, d’un Mémorandum d’Entente entre la Communauté économique des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (CEDEAO), le Nigéria et le Maroc, pour confirmer leur volonté de concrétiser le projet du gazoduc Nigéria-Maroc.
Ce gazoduc longera la côte ouest-africaine depuis le Nigeria sur 5.600 kilomètres, en passant par le Bénin, le Togo, le Ghana, la Côte d’Ivoire, le Liberia, la Sierra Leone, la Guinée, la Guinée-Bissau, la Gambie, le Sénégal et la Mauritanie, jusqu’au Maroc, et sera connecté au Gazoduc Maghreb-Europe et au réseau gazier européen. Cette infrastructure permettra aussi d’alimenter les Etats enclavés du Niger, du Burkina Faso et du Mali.
Le mégaprojet de gazoduc Nigeria-Maroc, dont l’étude de faisabilité a été entamée en mai 2017, avait été lancé au cours de la visite officielle du roi Mohammed VI en décembre 2016 à Abuja, et un accord y afférent avait été signé, le 10 juin 2018, lors d’un déplacement à Rabat du président nigérian Muhammadu Buhari.
