Le Sénégal vient de parapher un contrat de concession pour l’acquisition, l’exploitation et la maintenance du matériel roulant et des systèmes du BRT de Dakar. Cette rencontre s’est tenue sous la présence effective du Président de la République, M. Macky Sall, et en présence du Président du Groupe de la Banque mondiale, M. David Malpass.
Le Ministère des Finances et du Budget, le Ministère des Infrastructures, des Transports Terrestres et du Désenclavement, ont procédé à la signature sous la présence du Conseil Exécutif des Transports urbains de Dakar (CETUD).
Il faut noter que le contrat de concession d’une durée de quinze ans, a été conclu avec Meridiam et ses partenaires du Groupe Keolis et Fonsis. Le montant total des investissements privés prévus est estimé à 135 millions d’euros.
Les services de BRT qui disposeront d’une technologie de dernière génération avec des bus capacitaires à alimentation 100% électrique (59 000 tonnes de CO2 évitées par an) vont apporter une solution efficiente à la saturation du réseau routier en transportant en moyenne 300 000 voyageurs par jour, avec un tarif socialement acceptable, pendant la durée de vie de la concession.
Dans sa phase d’exploitation du second semestre de 2023 ce projet pourrait générer jusqu’à 1000 emplois directs, dont 99% seront recrutés localement, avec une politique de ressources humaines visant à privilégier l’accès à l’emploi des femmes et le développement des compétences locales dans les transports publics de masse.
En parallèle aux travaux de réalisation du BRT, un projet de restructuration du réseau de transport en commun (RTC) pour disposer d’un système de rabattement sur les transports de masse (BRT et TER) avec des bus sobres en carbone a été lancé par le CETUD.
