Avec cette initiative, les deux entreprises veulent promouvoir l’utilisation du biométhane dans le transport lourd en tant que carburant alternatif qui émet beaucoup moins d’émissions et qui est déjà disponible aujourd’hui.
Le Bio-LNG peut réduire les émissions de CO2e d’environ 86 % par rapport au diesel et contribuer ainsi à atteindre les objectifs climatiques de l’UE pour 2030. Shell développe la chaîne d’approvisionnement du Bio-LNG tout en offrant à ses clients des réductions progressives des émissions.

Aujourd’hui déjà, 10 % des transports par camion de marchandises emballées d’Evonik en Europe sont effectués dans des camions respectueux du climat.
L’entreprise de produits chimiques spéciaux s’est fixé pour objectif de faire passer cette part de marchandises emballées en Allemagne à 20 % d’ici 2025.
La mobilité durable est possible dès aujourd’hui

Shell propose un mélange de Bio-LNG à l’ensemble de son réseau de ravitaillement en GNL de marque aux Pays-Bas, offrant une réduction d’environ 30 % des émissions de carbone à tous les clients.
En outre, la société prévoit d’offrir un mélange de Bio-LNG à l’ensemble de son réseau de GNL de marque en Allemagne d’ici le troisième trimestre de 2023.
Pour soutenir cet effort, Shell construit actuellement une nouvelle usine de liquéfaction du biogaz dans son parc énergétique et chimique de Rhénanie.

Les avantages environnementaux du biométhane par rapport au diesel ordinaire sont clairs : les véhicules alimentés au bioGNL rejettent environ 86 % d’émissions de CO2e en moins et contribuent à réduire le bruit de près de 50 % par rapport à ceux alimentés au diesel classique.
