After months of rehabilitation, the 57 km road between Daloa and Issia is once again accessible. Financed at nearly 58 billion CFA francs, this renovation aims to open up a strategic agricultural area and revive production chains to Ivorian ports..

The Ivorian Prime Minister, Dr. Robert Beugré Mambé, inaugurated on October 4 the Daloa-Issia road, completely refurbished after work began in June 2023. The final cost reached 57,8 billion FCFA against an initial budget of 45 billion, reflecting the additional costs needed to correct structural deficiencies.

The redeveloped 57 km section aims to put an end to traffic constraints that were holding back transporters and increasing logistics costs in this part of the country.

The rehabilitation is part of the National Development Plan (PND 2021–2025). It particularly targets the Central-West zone, important for the production of cocoa, coffee, rubber and food crops.

By restoring a reliable transport route, the project aims to streamline flows to Abidjan and the ports of departure, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of local agricultural sectors. Transporters and producers will benefit from safer routes, lower costs, and shorter delays.

Beyond the main route, the works also included urban road improvements in thethe towns of Daloa and Issia to improve local mobility. During the implementation phase, approximately 475 direct jobs were created, helping to boost the local economy.

The social impact is also highlighted: better access to public services (schools, health, markets) should strengthen territorial inclusion in a long-marginalized region.

This upgrade of the Daloa–Issia axis is a key component of Ivory Coast's road investment strategy. By relaunching a key logistics corridor, the state is banking on boosting interregional trade.

The challenge now will be to ensure long-term maintenance, periodic maintenance and the integration of this renovated section into a wider road continuum to prevent the road from falling back into disrepair.
