Menzies Aviation, the leading service partner to airports and airlines worldwide, has renewed and secured several key new cargo contracts with airlines at London Heathrow Airport (LHR), including Thai Airways Cargo, Middle East Airlines, Royal Air Maroc Cargo, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines Cargo and Tarom.
Among the new contracts, Menzies is set to provide cargo handling and airside trucking services for Thai Airways, Thailand's national airline. The contract, which includes 14 rotations per week, will see local teams oversee the transport of over 16,000 tonnes of fresh vegetables and fish from Thailand to the UK.
Royal Air Maroc Cargo, the fast-growing cargo business of the Moroccan national airline, has appointed Menzies to manage its cargo handling at London's busiest airport, handling seven rotations a week.
As part of the extension of its contract with the air services company, Royal Jordanian Airlines has added cargo handling and airside trucking to its agreement, which currently includes passenger and ramp handling. The extended contract will include 14 additional rotations per week, with over 6,000 tons of cargo expected annually.
Menzies Aviation has also signed a five-year contract with Middle East Airlines, the national airline of Lebanon, to provide air cargo handling and airside trucking services for over 14 rotations per week, including over 1,700 tons of fresh vegetables from Lebanon.
Building on a ten-year relationship, Menzies will also continue to provide cargo handling services for SAS Cargo, the leading air cargo carrier to, from and within Scandinavia, handling over 35 rotations per week. It will also continue to serve its long-standing cargo customer, Tarom, the national flag carrier and oldest airline currently operating in Romania, with seven rotations a week.
Karl Aldwinckle, Vice President Cargo Europe, commented: "It's fantastic to see such positive momentum, with a series of wins and renewals for the London Heathrow cargo team, helping to expand our cargo footprint in Europe.
We have an ambitious freight expansion strategy, and are proud to have built strong relationships with customers who recognize our service-oriented approach. We look forward to further strengthening these relationships and extending our reach in Europe and beyond.
