Guinea is banking on accelerating dedicated infrastructure projects, such as the construction of specialized ports connected to railway lines to better cope with the logistical constraints linked to the shipping of its minerals.

Moroccan Tanger Med Engineering (TME), a subsidiary of TMSA Holding in charge of the development and management of the Tanger Med port complex, is about to take over the development contracts for the mineral ports of Konta (prefecture of Forécariah), Dobaly (north of Conakry) and Gonzalez (off the mouth of Rio Nunez), according to AfricaIntelligence.

The National Agency for the Development of Mining Infrastructure (ANAIM) would have "lost patience" vis-à-vis the Indian company Ashapura Minecheminitial contract awardee, who was slow in carrying out the work.

In November 2022, TSMA signed a technical assistance contract with the Guinean Naval Company (SNG), in the construction of a quay and a protective dike at the port of Sandervalia. The company is known for having been the main player in the development of the port of Tangier Med, today considered the most important in Africa.

The implementation of these three port projects should enable Guinea to optimize the export chain of its minerals (particularly bauxite iron) and to absorb the volumes transported via the port of Conakry in order to reduce congestion there.
