With over 30 years' experience in logistics, the Socodam Group is one of the pillars of this sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It was founded in 1986 by its current Managing Director, Jean-Paul Dambana Rodall, who has developed it harmoniously and adapted it to the current requirements of the sector. Socodam is a global logistics company specializing in multimodal freight transport, transit-customs, warehousing, distribution, removals, insurance and travel. It is also part of the Africa Logistics Network (ALN), the largest logistics network in Africa.
Becoming a leading logistics company in the DRC is no easy task, given the country's vast size and lack of infrastructure, as well as the multiplicity of players involved. Nevertheless, this hasn't prevented Socodam from making a quality name for itself over the years, with a young, dynamic team of professionals.
A number of milestones in the company's history were reached, notably in 1998, when it obtained authorization from the Ministry of Finance to become a Concessionaire des Entrepôts Publics Concédés (EPC). In the same year, it also received approval from the Direction Générale des Douanes et des Accises (DGDA) to operate bonded EPCs in Kinshasa, Lubumbashi and Mwene-Ditu.
In 2003, the company launched its national and international moving, packing and unpacking, warehousing and chartering activities. On March 20, 2014, it created the bonded transport department and became an approved road haulier with the DGDA. And finally, on May 5, 2015, Socodam was licensed as a shipping agent in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Socodam is a group whose strategy is based on transparency, respect for commitments, the quest for service improvement and international development. Its activities are currently divided into 6 divisions: transport-logistics, customs clearance and transit, bonded warehousing, insurance and reinsurance, packing and unpacking, and shipping agency.
Socodam also specializes in petroleum logistics, deploying its activities mainly at several sites in the DRC. It can handle all land-based oil and maritime logistics, as well as the provision of equipment and personnel at the various sites. It has a large logistics fleet of newly acquired equipment, including barges, cranes (30T, 40T, 110T), 4×4s, trucks (RVI, MAN 6×6, 8×8), trailers, semi-trailers and all types of vehicles.
With its know-how and expertise developed in the logistics sector over many years, Socodam is the preferred partner of several companies and organizations based in the DRC, including UNICEF, Monusco, UNDP, Oxfam, the US Embassy, Startimes, Société Nationale d'Electricité and Congo Airways.
