Africa Global Logistics, the benchmark logistics operator in Africa, is pleased to announce the signing on December 20, 2023 of a management contract for the Port of São Tomé, opening up new economic prospects for the country. The ceremony was attended by Adelino Fernandes Rosa Cardoso, Minister of Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Environment of Sao Tomé & Principe, and Hamilton Afonso Fernandes de Sousa, Managing Director of the port authority ENAPORT.

AGL has been selected following a tender process to take over operations at the Port of Sao Tomé's container terminal. This partnership between AGL and the government of São Tomé will improve the port's efficiency and productivity, by implementing modern technological solutions and management practices.

"We are honored to have been chosen as a partner to operate this port. The signing of this contract confirms our determination to consolidate our service offering in Africa, by providing an integrated, high-quality service that is as close as possible to the expectations of the population. We are confident that our expertise will significantly improve the productivity of the port of Sao Tome and Principe, and support the government's efforts on behalf of the people of Sao Tome.

With the support of Mediteranean Shipping Company, AGL will carry out cargo handling operations and modernize terminal operations, with a view to fostering local economic growth.

With almost 300 meters of quay 5 meters deep in the bay of Ana Chaves, the Sao Tome terminal, which serves more than 250,000 people, has a 32,000 m2 storage area and three warehouses.

"The Port of São Tomé is a gateway to Central Africa, positioned on the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks to this management contract, Africa Global Logistics will be working closely with local partners to provide logistical solutions that are adapted to the country's needs and promote sustainable socio-economic development," explains Olivier De Noray, Managing Director of Ports and Terminals at Africa Global Logistics.

« Nous sommes convaincus qu’AGL sera un partenaire stratégique de premier ordre pour renforcer l’efficacité et la compétitivité de notre port. Ensemble, nous répondrons aux défis opérationnels auxquels nous sommes confrontés, pour proposer des services qui bénéficieront à notre économie et aux populations locales ». A indiqué Adelino Fernandes Rosa Cardoso, Ministre des infrastructures de Sao Tomé et Principe.

This contract, finalized with the assistance of the international law firm Lechëne Iniguez & Patners (LI&P), reinforces Africa Global Logistics' position as a key player in port management in Africa.
