Two sixth-generation Konecranes Gottwald eco-efficient mobile harbour cranes have been ordered by Tincan Island Container Terminal Limited (TICT). Scheduled for delivery in June 2022, the new equipment will contribute to improving TICT’s operational efficiency and supporting the development of its container traffic.
With a reach of 54 m and a capacity of 150 tonnes, the newly acquired cranes rely on their high lifting capacity to optimise their performance and also have a customised support base adapted to local conditions, as well as a tower crane extension to reach containers positioned at height.
Since 2006, significant investments have been made by TICT to modernize its container terminal while participating in other projects, including the modernization of its barge transport service to reduce urban congestion.
TICT has also committed to intensifying its environmental efforts by relying on the eight fundamental pillars of the Green Terminal label. This approach, approved by Bureau Veritas, was launched in 2021 by Bolloré́ Ports and covers all environmental issues.
Etienne Rocher, Director General of TICT, declared that " This new acquisition is part of a global project aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the port of Lagos. The two mobile cranes that will equip the container terminal will allow an increase in the volumes handled, in order to meet the requirements of a constantly growing activity and improve our productivity.
"At the same time, we are working on developing our barge transport activities in order to promote a more sustainable logistics solution for our customers, in line with our CSR strategy," he added.
