In 2022, the Nigerian government is launching a university dedicated to training future aviation and aeronautics professionals in Africa. As the institution begins to find its feet, it wants to enrich itself with international expertise to offer quality training.
The National School of Civil Aviation in France has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Nigeria. The signed agreement provides for collaboration between the two institutions on seven main points with a common objective of enhancing the quality of training and skills of students, teachers and professionals in the aviation industry in Nigeria.
“Our collaboration with ENAC marks a turning point in our quest for excellence in aviation education. By joining forces with one of the world’s leading aviation institutions, we are poised to open new perspectives for our students and faculty, while contributing to the advancement of the global aviation industry,” said Mustapha Abdullahi Sheikh, AAAU Registrar.
Under the terms of the agreement, the partnership will involve the development of joint academic teaching programs and the organization of distance learning.
Also, it is planned to provide training programs for the AAAU management faculty and implement programs to strengthen the skills of aviation professionals. Other areas of collaboration are related to research, organization of conferences and sharing of resources and facilities.
This collaboration was made possible thanks to the approach of the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the institutional guardian of the university. For the authorities in Abuja, this collaboration, which will only come into force after the signing of a technical cooperation agreement, is beneficial in carrying out the ambitions of the young Nigerian university.
Launched in late 2022 under the academic supervision of the Nile University, AAAU was designed to help Nigeria and Africa fill the human resource gap in the field of aviation. It should be recalled that the university is open to students from across the continent. It offers hybrid courses mainly in air transport management, aviation business and meteorology.
