A single maritime window (GUM) will be deployed in 2025 by Brussels in order to bring harmony to the computerised processes of management and information on the entry and exit of ships in all European ports.
Operators should not worry since the transition should have no consequences for shipping companies and freight forwarders, with simply an adaptation of the systems that already exist.
From 2025, European community system ports (PCS, CCS for France) will communicate with each other. A smooth passage announced and not in torture.
Julien Fernandez, head of the port strategy and development office at the Ministry of Ecological Transition, explains that: "The transition to a single window must be done without interruption with the objectives of improving existing systems in order to strengthen the competitiveness of our ports." He spoke during a webinar, organized by Supply Chain Village, dedicated to the practical modalities of deployment of the European maritime single window.
The management of ship calls in the 60 French ports is provided by seven software programs (Netpune, etc.) and for only two years now, France has had a PCS born from the forced merger of the port IT companies MGI and Soget.
Europe, in collaboration with the European Maritime Safety Agency, presents a remote interface module (RIM, remote interface module) pso that systems can communicate.
However, it is currently being designed. Once this step has been completed, a design phase of an ordered user interface based on the specifications transmitted by the European Commission to the Member States.
Otherwise, Roberto Alongi, Director General for Mobility and Transport at the European Commission states: "in order to reduce administrative formalities, Europe is working to harmonise national single windows backed by harmonisation points. We are currently developing system-to-system interface modules.
It should be noted, however, that the graphical interfaces will have common functions and the spreadsheets, which companies are fond of, will be classified.
