Dachser has joined forces with distributor and logistics company Fercam to create the company Dachser & Fercam Italia. This merger is made all the easier by the fact that Fercam has been a partner of Dachser in Italy for around twenty years.

The transport and logistics group Dachser is joining forces with Fercam, a long-standing partner in the Italian market, to establish a joint venture in which it will hold 80%. The new company, which will combine the two divisions “Fercam Distribution” (groupage shipments) and “Fercam Logistics” (warehousing and contract logistics) of Fercam AG by the end of the year, will be named Dachser & Fercam Italia in early 2024.

These two divisions have a total of 920 employees on 43 sites for a turnover of 400 million euros in 2022. The divisions "Fercam Transport", "Fercam Air & Ocean", "Fercam Special Services", and all of Fercam AG's foreign subsidiaries are not affected by the transaction.

"Since the start of our partnership, market conditions have changed significantly with a concentration on a few European and global players," explains Thomas Baumgartner, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Fercam.

This is why we have decided to create a joint venture exclusively dedicated to groupage and warehousing logistics. It is a win-win situation." Dachser & Fercam Italia will be headed by Alexander Tonn, Dachser's chief operations officer Road logistics.

Fercam, Dachser partner since 2003

Fercam is a family business based in Bolzano, South Tyrol. “Dachser and Fercam have been working together successfully for 20 years. During this time, we have gotten to know and appreciate each other,” emphasizes Alexander Tonn.

Dachser's partner is responsible for distributing all groupage shipments of industrial products and consumer goods from its European network in Italy, and also transports shipments sent from that country to this network. The operational management of groupage shipments is therefore already well harmonized between the two companies.

"Fercam is a guarantee of continuity and expertise in Italy. This acquisition, combined with other investments, will allow us to grow even faster, while improving the quality of our offer. Our customers in Europe, especially in Italy, as well as worldwide, will benefit in the medium term from continuous and uniform processes and systems," concludes Alexander Tonn.
