SAIGE Sas, is involved in the supply of oil and gas products, transport and logistics, while JIS Africa specializes in freight traffic monitoring. Both companies are based in Togo.
Two months after the creation of a branch in Cameroon, the Togolese company JLS Africa, specialized in the issuance and management of electronic cargo tracking slips (BESC) was tasked by the Central African State with monitoring its maritime cargoes transiting through the port of Douala.
The contract was initialed on May 30, 2023 in Douala, in the presence of Cameroonian Minister of Transport Ernest Ngalle Bibehe and his Central African counterpart, Gotran Ndjono Ahaba.
The operation is of capital importance for the Central African Republic, which does not have port infrastructure. In particular, it will facilitate the monitoring of its goods in accordance with Order No. 00557/MINT of 11 July 2006, which establishes the BESC as part of the monitoring of maritime traffic coming from or going to Cameroon.
Gotran Ndjono Ahaba is convinced that this new configuration will facilitate the conditions for the removal and traceability of goods, will ease administrative formalities and procedures, and will reduce costs and port transit times in particular.
The Central African Republic has also entrusted the African Investment and Business Management Company (SAIGE), another Togolese company, with the responsibility of collecting the commission on the tonnage of goods to or from its territory, paid by shipowners.
« I invite shipowners and stevedores to support the Central African Republic through the SAIGE company, in collecting this commission, the amounts of which have been set taking into account their opinions and comments. ».
