On September 26, the Autonomous Port of Kribi (PAK) and Kribi Containers Terminal (KCT) initialed an amendment to the concession agreement for the container terminal of the deep-water Port of Kribi.
An agreement has concluded the financing of phase 2 materializing new port facilities on the industrial-port complex of the port of Kribi.
The capacity of the Cameroonian port will thus triple from 2024. The Autonomous Port of Kribi and Kribi Container Terminal (KCT) signed an agreement on September 26 for define the financing arrangements for the phase 2 of the Cameroonian industrial-port complex project.
Around June 2024, a new 715 m quay and a 30-hectare platform will be built and 20 new gantries (5 quay and 15 park) will be delivered. The deep-water terminal's capacity will triple, up to reach one million containers handled (TEUs).
A strategic investment
Olivier De Noray, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KCT and General Manager of Ports and Terminals at Bolloré Ports, stated that "the signing of this amendment confirms the common need that the port authority and the shareholders of the Container Terminal have for the development of the Kribi industrial-port complex, a strategic investment by the Cameroonian authorities."
With the continued increase in volumes recorded this year, The Kribi terminal is establishing itself as the main gateway for goods for Cameroon and the sub-region. The investments in phase 2 will therefore make it possible to consolidate this dynamic for the benefit of local economic players.”
Kribi Logistics Hub, a 24-person logistics base 000 m² located not far from the KCT inaugurated in June 2022 benefits directly from the impact of these new installations in 2024. KCT is the concessionaire of the container terminal of the deep-water port of Kribi. It is made up of a group of Cameroonian shareholders, Bolloré Ports, CMA CGM, CHEC.
