CMA CGM, already active in the air transport sector, is exploring the possibility of acquiring Air Belgium's cargo operations. In doing so, it intends to strengthen its integrated logistics offering.

The CMA CGM shipping group, a global shipping giant, is positioning itself to take over the cargo operations of the Belgian airline Air Belgium. This move aims to diversify its services and offer a comprehensive logistics solution, combining maritime and air transport.

Air Belgium, refocused on freight after difficulties in passenger transport, is a strategic target. The acquisition would allow CMA CGM to expand its air network, particularly on the Europe-Asia-America routes.

This potential acquisition adds to CMA CGM's recent investments in the airline sector, notably with the creation of CMA CGM Air Cargo in 2021.

The group aims to capitalize on the growth of the air freight market, driven by demand for rapid logistics and disruptions to supply chains.

If finalized, this transaction would strengthen CMA CGM's position as a key player in multimodal transport, combining maritime and air transport for a global logistics offering.
