Dragon Oil avait fait l’annonce d’un investissement d’environ 1 milliard de dollars jusqu’à 2024, quatre mois avoir fait son entrée dans le golfe de Suez. L’objectif étant de d’accroitre ses actifs sur place et de renforcer sa production d’huile.
Un gisement de pétrole a été découvert dans le golfe de Suez par la filiale de la société publique émiratie du pétrole ENOC ce 16 février . Une première pour la société, qui a mis la main sur du pétrole dans cette région qu’elle a intégrée en juin 2019, après avoir acquis des actifs arrivés à maturité auprès de BP.
La découverte serait l’une des plus importantes du bassin, ces 20 dernières années, avec une taille possible de près de 100 millions de barils a annoncé l’agence émiratie de presse publique Wam qui a publié la nouvelle.
Les travaux de tests de puits permettront de situer le public sur la taille exacte du périmètre. Pour le moment, aucune information technique supplémentaire n’a été fournie sur la découverte dans cette zone.
Toutefois, le périmètre sera un pas important de l’Égypte vers son projet d’atteinte de l’autosuffisance pétrolière dès le démarrage de la production.
Dans ses projections, Dragon Oil souhaite passer sa production de pétrole de 160 000 barils par jour actuellement à 300 000 barils par jour d’ici 2026, plaçant l’Égypte, l’Irak et le Turkménistan au cœur de ce plan. Il faut préciser la présence de la société en Algérie mais aussi en Tunisie.
