En Afrique, l’inefficacité de l’approvisionnement augmente le coût des marchandises. Dans le cadre de ses opérations humanitaires, le PAM veut améliorer les compétences des travailleurs de ce secteur. En partenariat avec les gouvernements et entreprises, il a annoncé la construction d’une école.
La ville d’Accra au Ghana va bientôt abriter une école de transport spécialisée dans la livraison des biens vitaux comme la nourriture et les médicaments en Afrique de l’ouest.
Le Programme alimentaire mondial des Nations unies (PAM) qui supervise la mise en œuvre de l’école a fait savoir dans un communiqué publié sur son site Internet que la construction du centre devrait commencer durant l’année en cours.
Le centre offrira une formation pratique et en ligne gratuite à 400 personnes par an issues des organisations humanitaires, des gouvernements et du secteur privé local. La formation sera dispensée sur les meilleures pratiques en matière de transport routier, de gestion de la flotte et de transport sécurisé de marchandises thermosensibles.
L’école est pensée dans le cadre des opérations de réponse humanitaire du PAM. Elle vise à renforcer les capacités de transport et de logistique à travers l’Afrique de l’Ouest, notamment le manque d’opportunités de formation et le savoir-faire technique limité.
« Au cours des deux dernières années, nous avons vu à quel point des chaînes d’approvisionnement solides et résilientes sont importantes. Ce centre de formation est une étape cruciale vers la construction de chaînes d’approvisionnement plus solides en Afrique de l’Ouest », a déclaré Alex Marianelli, directeur de la chaîne d’approvisionnement du PAM.
L’école sera construite avec l’accompagnement du gouvernement du Ghana, le financement du gouvernement japonais et l’expertise de plusieurs entreprises des transports et de construction, à l’instar de Carrier Global Corporation, Renault Trucks et Toyota Tsusho.
L’Afrique de l’Ouest comme le reste du continent connaît un déficit de compétences. Il accentue les inefficacités logistiques qui augmentent de 40 à 60 % le coût des marchandises, selon le rapport e-Conomy Africa 2020 publié par Google et la Société financière internationale (SFI).
